Swati Subodh Siddhartha
Swati started her kathak training under the guidance of Late Guru Sohanlal (disciple of legendary Guru Jailalji of Jaipur Gharana) at an early age of five and hence after continued under his son Guru Kishen Kumar and later under his nephew, Guru Ramkumar. Swati has further enriched her abhinaya under the legendary odissi Guru Mayadhar Raut.

Over the years Swati has developed a distinct style of her own which has emerged as conception of dance as a mode of devotion and expression of one’s own individual perceptions, thereby giving it a unique embodiment.

Years of rigorous training have enhanced the various aspects of performance of parans and tukray of different layakaris, which Swati performs with great poise and grace. The clarity of the forceful tatkaar (footwork) is one of the highlights in Swati’s dance style. Swati’s forte' lies in bhaav and abhinaya, which form a very integral part of her dance. Swati has choreographed many of her dance recitals which have been hugely appreciated by her audience and critics alike. She uses the grammar of kathak for story telling and depicting issues of contemporary relevance.

Swati is a Nritya Praveen from Prayag Sangit Samiti, Allahabad and is a member of the World Dance Alliance- India (WDA-India). She is a Co-founder and Creative Head of Aadyantara, a not for profit cultural organization based in New Delhi. As an organizer, Swati has been instrumental in organizing seminars and recitals involving imminent personalities of different fields (see www.aadyantara.org for details).
